After my last post on Alabama I realized I had talked so much about my life there, that I didn't give you guys all the reasons to visit this great state. Let me tell you there is so many reasons to visit. It, like most states has different regions. Alabama offers a free guide and map, you can order one at https://alabama.travel.
There is four regions North, South, Central and Coast. Trust me when I say all of them have something amazing in them to see or do. There is 24 state parks to visit. There is 11 National Wildlife Refuges. There is four National Forest. There is two National Historic sites. One National Battlefielsd and one National Preserve as well as three National trails. And then there is three National Monument. So all together there is 24 National Parks all of which are free to go and enjoy.
In the Northern region of Alabama you will find a landscape of mountain and waterfalls. Who in world wouldn't want to enjoys those views. I want to go see the view from Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne. There is also a lot in history and science museums like The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville. If you enjoy history like I do you may want to check out Alabama’s German Village in Cullman. If you are a foodie like me you will not want to miss out on the BBQ. I heard from our friend Walter that the white BBQ sauce they make is hands down the best out there. I'm excited to try but I think the Brunt ends at Joe's in Kansas City maybe hard to beat.
In the South region you will find the most Civil Rights history in the state. Selma is not only where the walk for the right to vote happened it is also where a major battle happened in the civil war. I believe that this is a very important place for all amarican to visit to remember our pass and to do better in our treatment of each other in our further. The Capital in Montgomery would be a great thing to see, but if you are not into that you could go to the zoo. That is more my speed, I'd love to see the elephants. Wine yes please, The South regain has many winery's to visit. If you want you can even get a winery passport at one of the visitor center.
In the central region of the state you may just find some gold. That's right you do not have to go all the way to Alaska to pan for gold. You can do it in Lineville. Enjoy a drive though the mountains or you can enjoy a round of golf at one of the public golf course. I for one can't wait until I can try the pecan pie at Edolyn’s Pies, in Birmingham. I read all about in a maginize while wait at the doctor office awhile back. I just hopethey are still around when I finely get there.
Then there is the Coastal region. I telling right now I love looking of at the water. So waking up and stepping out of my camper to see the ocean is a dream. I'm not saying I would want to live on the coast I don't but vacationing there sounds like a dream. I wouldn't want to go in the busy part of the year but in the fall or winter, that would be perfect. If you are the type that likes to go into the ocean than you would want to go in the summer. I would set and enjoy the views go see a museum or two. I'd take a walk down the beach to look at the seashells and the go get some fresh seafood at one of the local resturants.
